Preferably something which is also available for iOS and/or Linux so that when we next upgrade hardware, we can get completely away from Micro$oft.Ĭlick to expand. When we bought it, it was new, maybe four or five years ago. The chances of us spending four grand re-buying this software are nil - we'll switch to either Open Office or Wordperfect Office. It is no small wonder that Apple is growing ever more huge whilst Micro$oft is stagnant or shrinking. She forwarded us to another site which merely says that hold times are over twenty minutes so please leave your number. My boss went through the menu system (past the "Give us $499" message) and got a lady apparently in India or Pakistan, who probably does not make $499 in a year and obviously did not recognize the name "Randy", and from whom we can understand perhaps one word in four. Attempting to get support results in a message that we can purchase a "support session" - for $499! Obviously that isn't happening. I have not spent an entire day with myself and my boss with essentially no production, on ONE computer. I went through the Microsoft suggested "fix", which is basically uninstalling it and re-installing it to get the exact same message. Microsoft also suggests returning the invalid software, which considering that we purchased it (Staples or Best Buy, don't remember) three or four years ago and it validated just fine then is obviously not a practical solution. Both nuked Office 2010 Professional Plus - Windows says that new hardware was detected (neither PC has been changed since we bought them) and now says the key is not valid.
Anybody else have this problem? Two of our computers have now "crashed" and immediately rebooted into Win 10 upgrades without asking.
